This challenging position involves protecting American interests, safeguarding borders, deterring illicit activity, and enhancing national economic prosperity.

Key responsibilities include enforcing customs laws and regulations related to importing/exporting goods from/to the United States. This includes conducting interviews with individuals/suspects for the purpose of gathering information related to illegal activities such as smuggling prohibited goods/drugs into/from US territory. Additionally CBPOs conduct inspections on conveyances/bags/merchandise for suspected law violations.
