Human Resources Generalist, Administration
Reports To:
Director, Human Resources
Position Profile:
The Human Resource Generalist plays a critical role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the company and will act as a partner to employees and management. The Human Resources Generalist will be primarily responsible for undertaking and/or supporting Human Resource practices and the people and culture aspect of the organization, including but not limited to occupational health and safety, labor relations and legislative compliance, training, performance management, employee file management and tracking, recruitment and onboarding support, and other administrative duties as required in both AHSI branches (Ottawa and Pembroke).

Roles and Responsibilities:
- WSIB full cycle support and management, including implementation and tracking of Employee workplace accommodations requirements.
- Coordinates and develops a return-to-work plan in collaboration with the leadership team.
- Medical and Dental benefits administration support.
- Effectively manages and tracks Employee leaves of absence
- Assist/supports employees and managers in all matters concerning Human Resource and ensures compliance with the Employment Standards Act and any other applicable legislation and/or regulations.
- Primary liaison with the Organization's HRIS platform and provides information to Management as required
- Maintains confidential, accurate and current employee files and information and ensures that all protocols are in accordance with current AHS policies and procedures
- Tracks, follows up and maintains employee records and related documents including but not limited to;
- annual mandatory education
- recertification requirements
- benefits enrollment/benefits cancellation, RRSPs
- mandatory employment requirements (eg CNO registration, vaccination records, criminal references checks/declaration, overtime averaging agreement
- In collaboration with other JHSC members, leads OHSC and ensures all OHSC matters are addressed immediately and regulatory requirements are met.
- Updates, maintains, and tracks status of all employees and notifies relevant parties.
- Records and maintains all applicable HR statistics for monthly and annual reporting
- Tracks sign on & referral bonuses and provides monthly report to Director for evaluation. Notifies Payroll accordingly.
- Conducts exit interviews
- Provides support to employees and responds to staff inquiries in a timely manner
- Notifies Payroll/Finance of changes to employee status (ie LOA, termination, promotion, pay increase etc)
- Supports and assists with recruitment or recruitment initiatives as required including coverage for the Talent Acquisition Specialist.
- Other administrative duties as required.
Required Skills:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
- Experience with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Capable of organizing and inputting large amounts of data with accuracy
- Able to always maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information
- Attention to detail and accurate reporting
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive/difficult situations with understanding and tact
- Able to execute quality work in a very fast-paced environment
- Team player capable of working efficiently and with minimal supervision
- Highly motivated, outgoing, professional, and caring individual.
- Working knowledge of current employment and occupational health and safety legislation.
Qualifications:
- Human Resources Diploma (or equivalent) from a recognized educational institution
- Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation
- Minimum 1-2 years previous HR experience required
- Experience within a healthcare setting is an asset
- Experience with occupational health and safety requirements and JHSC working committees preferred.
- Bilingual in both English and French preferred
- Occasional regional travel may be required
