Tuxedo Villa - .4 EFT Evening/Weekend - Unit Coordinator

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Reporting to the Director of Care, the Unit Coordinator assists in the directing and organizing of resident care and services according to Extendicare's vision, policy and procedures.
Participates in the Quality Assurance/Improvement Program of the Home to ensure the effective, efficient delivery of a high standard of resident care.
Assists with the effective use of budgeted resources to provide health care within the facility and is an active member of the leadership team.
Acquire, organize, direct/supervise and develop team members for the effective, efficient provision of health care and services to the residents by modeling behavior in line with Extendicare expectations and values.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Organize, direct/supervise and develop team members for the effective, efficient provision of health care and services to the residents
Developing and implementing education and quality improvement planning to staff
Attend and participate in committee/program meetings
Provide frontline presence on the units to support, evaluate and better understand quality and educational opportunities
Identify gaps in training and education and develop solutions
Adheres to established policies and procedures regarding quality assurance, fire, safety, and environment and infection control.
Other duties as deemed necessary for operational requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba
Must be knowledgeable in principles and philosophy of long-term care with supervision experience.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills that develop a positive work and living environment;
Understanding of change management, organizational development with proven success;
Solid understanding of Quality Improvement and Assurance programs
Mentally and physically able to perform duties as outlined which includes ability to maintain regular attendance in addition to work in a very dynamic environment.
Resident-directed and centred attitude, with an emphasis on building and maintaining relationships with residents, their families, team members and the community
Ability to generate sound, creative solutions and new approaches to daily challenges and which maximize the short and long-term goals of the facility.
