About

The Syracuse Research Corporation (SRC) is celebrating 60 years of redefining possible.
The company was originally formed to provide innovative products and seasoned analysis to solve complex Electronic Warfare (EW) challenges faced by the US Government and its Armed Forces. Since 2016, SRC has expanded operations into Australia, Canada and the UK. We do this by focusing on our customers' needs through the innovative application of science, technology, and information to solve problems of national significance. SRC CAN Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of SRC Inc. and is helping to shape the future EW, Counter-Uncrewed Aircraft System (CUAS) and Radar technologies that will support the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and its allies.
The Job
SRC CAN Ltd is seeking an intermediate to working level, Systems Engineer , to contribute to the design, development, and delivery of next-generation EW Operational Support Systems (EWOSS) including Intelligence Mission Data (IMD) and Operational Mission Data (OMD) product solutions for the Department of National Defence (DND). Reporting to the Senior Systems Engineer, this role will leverage Systems (and Software) Engineering skillsets to support the SRC enterprise portfolio of signals intelligence (SIGINT) and EW suite of advanced software including Radio Frequency (RF) modeling and simulation products.
This role requires strong technical and data engineering skills, collaboration, and familiarity with Agile methodologies such as the SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) environment.

What You'll Do
  • Assist in the design, implementation, and upkeep of EW/SIGINT software tool suites, RF modeling and simulation (MODSIM), and computer information systems (CIS). This includes integrating specialty Military-off-the-Shelf (MOTS) software products to ensure the EWOSS meets operational and Canadian Forces EW Support (CFEWS) project requirements.
  • Work within an Agile SAFe development environment by actively participating in Phase, Project Increment (PI) and Sprint planning including  Daily Stand-ups and EWOSS Demos. Collaborate with the Agile development team—including software architects, developers and designated Subject Matter Experts (SME)—to support alignment with the phased delivery and acceptance process.
  • Assist in defining and refining EWOSS requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria. Use Agile methodologies to support backlog management by helping prioritize tasks and maintain traceability from requirements through implementation.
  • Support performance evaluations to confirm that, throughout the phased delivery process, the EWOSS consistently meets its initial, mid term, and final capability requirement sets. Record and report installation, configuration, test and integration results to confirm compliance and to capture  the capabilities developed and delivered over the course of a PI.
  • Support the identification, troubleshooting, and resolution of technical issues across the EWOSS product phased delivery and acceptance process to reduce downtime and ensure system reliability.
  • Develop and maintain Systems Engineering documentation, including architecture and design diagrams, interface specifications, test plans, and configuration management records.
  • Apply Systems Engineering processes and best practices to support phased delivery of value.
  • What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Computer Science, or a related discipline. Degree must be from a recognized Canadian institution or hold an accredited Canadian equivalency.
  • Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience in Systems (and/or Software) Engineering, integration, testing, and verification.
  • Ability to work in a complex system-of-systems and software development environment, think independently, and resolve technical challenges effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with excellent verbal/written communication skills in English; French proficiency is considered an asset.
  • Ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams and support, verify and document engineering analysis, with a detail-oriented approach, across several technical disciplines.
  • Must meet export control and security requirements, including compliance with the Canadian Controlled Goods Program and eligibility for a Government of Canada Level 2 (Secret) Security Clearance. Candidates must have resided in Canada for at least 10 years.
  • Additional (Preferred) Requirements:
  • Understanding and application of core Systems ( and/or Software) Engineering principles, including requirements analysis, systems design, integration, verification and validation.
  • Experience with requirement management tools (e.g. DOORS, Enterprise Architect, JIRA/Confluence, GitLab, etc.,).
  • Experience with MATLAB, Python and other software-based simulation experience.
  • Experience with Radio Frequency (RF) theory.
  • Experience or familiarity with EW systems, including Electronic Support (ES), Electronic Attack (EA), and Electronic Protection (EP), as deployed on military airborne, naval, or land platforms.
  • Understanding or hands-on experience with emitter and/or receiver reprogramming techniques, including associated processes and methodologies.
  • Knowledge/experience with the Five Eyes (FVEY) intelligence community.
  • Certifications in Agile practices (Certified Software Quality Engineer (CSQE), Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), etc.,) or equivalent experience with the ability to obtain certification are a plus.

  • Additional Information:
Total compensation for this role is market competitive. The anticipated salary range for this position based out of Ottawa, ON, is estimated at $80,000 to $107,000 annually.
