About the role
The Catering department is currently seeking a Sous Chef to support the daily operations of the Commissary Kitchen while playing a key leadership role in the planning and execution of catering menus and events. This role is ideal for a hands-on culinary leader who thrives in a high-volume, detail-driven environment and is passionate about mentoring teams and creating memorable experiences.
communicating the department's vision to all team members and leading by example;
supervising kitchen staff during, ensuring accurate menu preparation and completion of tasks;
ensuring all food preparation is taken care of on a daily basis;
ensuring quality standards are consistently met;
supporting the Catering Chef de Cuisine and Executive Chef in managing kitchen costs, including food waste and portion control;
inspiring the team with an exciting vision for the restaurant's future;
consistently monitoring kitchen operations and cleanliness;
following proper ordering, inventory and receiving procedures;
showing leadership in creating a culture that revolves around the experience and enjoyment of food and cooking;
participating in recruitment and selection, training and development initiatives as well as performance management and employee coaching;
using conflict/resolution and problem-solving skills;
other similar duties as required from time to time.
The person we are looking for has:
2-3 years proven experience as a Sous Chef in catering, banquets, or large-scale events;
culinary degree or equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience is an asset;
strong understanding of event timelines, production planning, and service logistics;
a strong understanding of cooking techniques, food safety, and kitchen operations;
the ability to lead and inspire a team in a fast-paced, high pressure environment;
an excellent organizational and time management skills;
a strong communication and interpersonal skills;
a commitment to quality, consistency and cleanliness;
experience with inventory management, ordering, and waste/cost control;
flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
