About
Ferrovial Construction Canada Inc. and VINCI Construction Grands Projets are undertaking the design, build, and finance of the Ontario Line Southern Civil, Stations, and Tunnel (South Civil) package.
As Ontario Transit Group, we are now mobilizing our design and construction crews, with major works. The South Civil contract is anticipated to be completed in 2030.
The project will strengthen Ontario's economy by supporting an estimated 1,500 jobs at the peak of construction.
What is the project?
- A six-kilometer tunnel and associated tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal (west of the Don River).
- Stations:
- One above-ground station to be integrated with the existing GO Transit Exhibition Station.
- Two underground stations to be integrated with the existing TTC Osgoode and Queen subway stations.
- Four new underground stations (King/Bathurst, Queen/Spadina, Moss Park, Corktown).

The Tunnel Formwork Superintendent supports the Project Manager in overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of tunnel construction activities, with a specific focus on formwork operations. This role ensures that all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with design specifications and project timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in supervising daily tunnel formwork operations, including setup, alignment, and dismantling.
- Deliver daily start of shift briefings and toolbox talks to tunnel crews of up to 40 workers.
- Coordinate with engineering and construction teams to ensure formwork meets structural and safety standards.
- Monitor crew performance and productivity, ensuring adherence to OTG safety protocols and quality standards.
- Support scheduling and sequencing formwork activities to align with overall tunnel construction progress.
- Maintain accurate records of labor, materials, and equipment usage.
- Identify and resolve issues related to formwork installation or site logistics.
- Ensure compliance with environmental and occupational health regulations.
- Provide training and guidance to formwork crews and subcontractors.
- Assist in preparing progress reports and communicating updates to senior management.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in tunnel construction, with at least 6 years in a supervisory role focused on formwork.
- Proven experience in Arch formwork lining using Aluma, Peri, Doka formworks.
- Strong knowledge of tunnel formwork systems, concrete, rebar and waterproofing membrane installation techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in construction management software.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and adapt to challenging site conditions.
- Relevant certifications in construction safety and formwork systems.
