Western Community College invites applications from qualified and experienced candidates to teach the Health Care Assistant Program (Practical), for evening shifts (Mon - Friday from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM). The Clinical Instructor will be responsible for taking the students on Multi Level/complex Care Practicum. The instructor will be involved in teaching clinical skills to students and their evaluation of clinical skills.

Required Qualification

  • Licensure: Current unrestricted registration as an LPN, RN, or RPN with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Teaching Competency: Demonstrated ability to teach adult learners (e.g., Provincial Instructor Diploma or equivalent, or prior teaching experience with satisfactory references or evaluations).
  • Clinical Experience:
  • At least two years of full-time Canadian nursing experience (1 year = 1400 hours).
  • Experience working with older adults with complex health needs.
  • Experience or orientation in home support and multi-level/complex care.
  • Cultural Safety Training: Evidence of completion of Indigenous cultural safety and humility coursework (e.g., San'yas training or equivalent).
  • BC HCA Practice Course: Evidence of completion of the Health Care Assistant Practice in BC course (available via the Learning Hub).

Experience

  • Three to five years of recent and relevant practice experience (equivalent to full-time hours per year).

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00am-3:00pm, 3:00pm-11:00pm
