Lead TrackMan and Synergy set-up and operation at all home games Provide daily self-scouting reports and advance scouting reports to the team using data from Trackman and Synergy Travel to away games to gather player data Manage analytics equipment and prepare it for game-day use Create models and tools that can be brought to coaches and players to improve on-field performance and player development Be creative in finding new ways to implement data captured in other areas of the SteepleCats organization (i.e. marketing, brand development, TrackMan top performers) Manually score home and away games Optimal Analytics Intern Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
A deep love of baseball Understanding of typical baseball data structures Knowledge of current baseball research, statistics, and strategy Strong attention to detail Strong oral and written communication skills Ability to work in a high stress environment Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with staff members of all levels Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Excel, SQL, R, and Python preferred Ability to take requests from non-technical stakeholders and make compelling products Willing to work varying hours: potentially early mornings, days, nights, and/or weekends
Additional Information: This internship is full time at 40 hours/week and runs from late May - early August. This is an unpaid internship, but the SteepleCats provide free local housing and a meal at home games. Eligibility for course credit varies by institution. Your own transportation is encouraged but not necessary.
The North Adams SteepleCats is a collegiate summer baseball team, bringing the best college baseball players from across the country to play summer baseball at Joe Wolfe Field in North Adams, MA. The team is part of the New England Collegiate Baseball League, a premier summer league that operates as a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation.
