Job Summary: The Software Engineer will design, develop, and maintain applications used in Great Wolf Resorts' attractions, as well as the underlying game platforms. This role focuses on full-stack software development, hardware integrations, and system architecture, including integration with relational databases (MySQL). The engineer will work closely with engineers, designers, and QA to ensure robust and scalable solutions. This is a Full Time Salaried Position. The individual in this role will be based out of Great Wolf's Headquarters located in Madison, WI. The office operates on a hybrid-remote schedule (M/F remote work and T/W/TH in-office).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and implement full-stack software solutions for attraction-related applications and game platforms
- Develop and maintain system architecture and integrate with relational databases
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and QA to ensure quality and functionality
- Integrate hardware components into software systems
- Maintain and enhance existing codebases and framework
Additional Responsibilities:
- Coordinate closely with cross-functional teams during development and maintenance
- Assist with on-site installation support and occasionally travel as needed
- Research and evaluate new technologies for integration into attractions
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- Minimum 3-5 years of software development experience
- Proficiency in industry-standard programming languages (C++, C#, Java)
- Familiarity with relational databases
- Strong understanding of agile methodology
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a small team
- Ability to self-start and work independently to find solutions
- Interest and experience with gaming, e.g. video, board, tabletop
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience in game development using engines such as Unity or Unreal
- Strong understanding of Scrum and agile practices
- Experience using AI-assisted workflows
Estimated Salary Range:
$110,000 - $120,000 annual base salary
An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, travel requirements, revenue-based metrics, any contractual agreements, and business or organizational needs. The range listed is just one component of Great Wolf’s total compensation package. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, a Paid Time Off policy, and other perks.
