As a Senior Software Engineer on our Risk Engineering Platform team, you will play a critical role in protecting our platform and millions of users from fraud and financial risks. You will be part of an elite team that builds scalable and customizable systems designed to detect and prevent fraud in real-time. Your Role: Lead the technical delivery of end-to-end projects, overseeing the design, implementation, deployment, and monitoring. Develop and improve complex systems and major features, leveraging your expertise to guide architectural decisions. Manage projects of varying size and complexity, transforming high-level business requirements into practical engineering solutions. Foster team collaboration through leading rituals, including on-call rotations and incident response. Enhance code quality and address technical debt to promote sustainable and efficient development practices. Support and mentor junior engineers, sharing knowledge to elevate the capabilities of the entire team. What We Are Looking For: Required Qualifications: 5+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of delivering complex systems. Proven ability to lead technical projects and mentor fellow engineers. Deep expertise in React and TypeScript, with experience in building and scaling distributed systems in production. Strong understanding of system design, architecture patterns, and trade-offs. Proven ability to navigate ambiguous requirements and drive clarity in technical projects. Experience leading incident response initiatives and conducting post-mortems. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in risk management, fraud detection, or financial systems at scale. Familiarity with machine learning models deployed in operational environments. Knowledge of real-time event processing and streaming architectures such as Kafka or Flink. Understanding of payment systems and associated fraud patterns. Experience with regulatory compliance and security requirements. Proven success in improving team productivity through tooling and process enhancements. Technical Skills: As a Frontend Engineer, you should possess: Expert-level proficiency in React and TypeScript/JavaScript. A deep understanding of modern frontend architectures and performance optimization strategies. Experience with state management solutions and component design systems. Strong knowledge of web security practices and accessibility standards. The ability to build complex, data-rich user interfaces. A track record of improving the frontend developer experience. Compensation: The target annual base salary for this position ranges from $186,065 to $218,900. Total compensation includes bonuses, equity, and comprehensive benefits that cover medical, dental, vision, and retirement plans. While many roles at Coinbase support remote work, please note that in-person participation is required for team and company-wide offsites throughout the year.
