HOW A DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
Administer, monitor, and maintain
both Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server
databases across production and development environments
Perform routine database maintenance tasks including
backups, patches, tuning, and upgrades
Design, implement, and optimize
database schemas, stored procedures, and indexing strategies
for performance and scalability
Ensure
data integrity, availability, and security
, complying with internal policies and external regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA)
Collaborate with application developers and system administrators to integrate backend data solutions
Troubleshoot and resolve
database performance issues
, including query optimization and locking conflicts
Implement and maintain disaster recovery and
high availability solutions
such as Data Guard, AlwaysOn, or failover clustering
Create and maintain documentation related to database design, configuration, and procedures
Required Skills:
Strong proficiency with
PL/SQL
,
T-SQL
, and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell or Bash)
Familiar with database monitoring and automation tools (e.g., OEM, SQL Server Management Studio, Redgate, SolarWinds)
Experience with
cloud-based database platforms
(e.g., Azure SQL, AWS RDS) is a big plus
Understanding of data warehousing, ETL processes, and business intelligence tools is desirable
Excellent communication and documentation skills; able to explain database concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Analytical thinker with a commitment to best practices, quality, and continuous improvement
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Education
: Associates or Bachelors degree in a related field; or possess an advanced degree in a related field (such as: Computer Science, IT Management, Engineering, Data Science)
Required Experience
: 6+ yrs of directly related professional work experience
Required Certifications
: Oracle Certified DBA and Microsoft SQL Server Certification
Security Clearance Level
: TS/SCI with active polygraph
Location
: Tysons, VA - On Customer Site

The likely salary range for this position is $138,063 - $186,791. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
