The Opportunity You'll be one of the founding members of PaceMate's brand-new AI & Automation development team. This isn't just a development role-you'll be a key architect and partner in shaping the technical direction of our data services platform. As our Senior PHP Data Engineer, you'll design and build the data extraction and processing services that power our platform. You'll work across web scraping, PDF processing, HL7 data feeds, and other healthcare data sources to create robust, scalable data pipelines. You'll also help build internal data tools that enable our product team to make better decisions. This is a high-impact role where your architectural decisions will influence how we leverage data and AI across the organization.

Your technical decisions will shape how we extract, process, and utilize data across PaceMate. You'll have significant influence on technology choices, architecture patterns, and team direction. AI-First Development We integrate AI tools throughout our development lifecycle. You'll use Claude CLI, agentic development frameworks, and modern AI-powered coding tools to move faster and solve harder problems. We expect you to leverage these tools as a core part of your workflow, not as an afterthought. Complex Data Challenges You'll tackle interesting technical problems:

What You'll Do Build Data Extraction Services (60%)
Design and implement PHP services to extract data from web sources, PDFs, and HL7 feeds Develop PDF parsing solutions that accurately extract structured data from complex medical documents Process and normalize HL7 healthcare data feeds into usable formats Create scalable data pipelines that handle high-volume extraction workloads Implement error handling, retry logic, and monitoring for production data services Architect Data Services Platform (20%)
Design the architecture for our data extraction and processing infrastructure Make technology and framework decisions that will scale with the team Establish patterns and best practices for data service development Evaluate and integrate new tools and technologies Document architectural decisions and technical standards Partner with leadership on roadmap and technical strategy Build Internal Data Tools (15%)
Develop internal tools that enable data-driven decision making Create data processing and analysis capabilities Build APIs and services that power internal applications Support product team needs with custom data solutions Team Collaboration & Growth (5%)
Collaborate with the Data Quality Automation Engineer on validation strategies Share knowledge about data extraction patterns and architecture decisions Help shape team culture and development practices Mentor future team members as the team grows

Experience with
HL7 data standards
(HL7v2, HL7 FHIR, or similar healthcare formats) Understanding of healthcare data challenges (PHI, compliance, data quality) Familiarity with medical device data or remote patient monitoring is a strong plus Python Skills (Bonus, Not Required) While this is primarily a PHP role, Python experience is valuable for:
Data analysis and exploration tasks Building proof-of-concept ML features before we hire dedicated ML engineers Flexibility in tool selection when PHP isn't the best fit If you have Python experience (pandas, data analysis, basic ML), that's a significant plus Experience Level 5+ years
of professional PHP development with demonstrated experience in data extraction, ETL, or data pipeline work. We value architectural thinking and problem-solving ability over specific framework experience. Remote Work Success Since we're 100% remote, you must:

Target Compensation : $110,000 - $130,000 depending on Length of Experience, Education, Demonstrated Skill Set and Certifications.
