Position Overview: We are seeking a Lead Machine Learning Engineer who possesses extensive experience in healthcare claims and machine learning. In this role, you will design, build, and deploy advanced AI systems that elevate healthcare quality and generate insights in risk adjustment and population health. You will work collaboratively with platform engineering, data science, product development, and clinical teams to create impactful analytics products utilizing traditional machine learning, MLOps, and generative AI. Your Responsibilities Will Include: MIKE (MedInsight Knowledge Engine):
Building an AI assistant for healthcare analytics. Data Confidence Model (DCM):
Use AI to enhance our data validation and quality assurance processes. Risk Adjustment AI:
Automate HCC recapture and risk scoring with predictive modeling. Claims Analytics AI:
Focus on identifying patterns, fraud detection, and usage forecasting. Population Health Models:
Implement member segmentation and risk stratification through predictive analytics. Healthcare NLP:
Work on clinical coding, documentation improvement, and insight extraction. Lakehouse AI Integration:
Embed AI into our healthcare data platform. Key Responsibilities: Create, develop, and deploy production-grade ML models and MLOps pipelines. Utilize healthcare claims data for risk prediction and population health analytics. Implement scalable inference systems with comprehensive validation and performance tracking. Incorporate large language models (LLMs) and generative AI into analytics products, focusing on RAG systems and conversational interfaces. Collaborate with engineering and clinical teams to develop AI solutions that address business objectives. Ensure models meet clinical accuracy, regulatory standards, and business integrity. Contribute to the formulation of ML strategy, tools, and best practices across the organization. Qualifications: Machine Learning & AI Proficiency 5+ years of experience in machine learning engineering, including deployment to production. Proficient in Python, with experience in libraries such as scikit-learn, XGBoost, PyTorch, and TensorFlow. Knowledge of supervised and unsupervised learning, feature engineering, model evaluation, and MLOps. Experience with cloud ML platforms (Azure ML, Databricks, SageMaker) and familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker/Kubernetes). Familiarity with generative AI, large language models, prompt engineering, and RAG systems. Experience in Healthcare Analytics 3+ years of experience working with healthcare claims data (medical, pharmacy, eligibility). Experience in population health analytics, risk adjustment metrics (CMS-HCC, HHS-HCC), and quality measures. Knowledge of actuarial forecasting, cost trending, and healthcare operations. Collaboration & Communication Skills Exceptional ability to collaborate across functions with engineers, product managers, and clinical professionals. Adept at communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Possess a strong ownership mentality, successfully driving projects from concept to completion. Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or related field. Experience with healthcare analytics platforms (MedInsight, HealthEdge, Cotiviti). Knowledge of HEDIS, Star Ratings, and quality improvement initiatives. Background in clinical NLP or medical coding. Understanding of HIPAA compliance and healthcare data security. Technical Environment: Languages: Python, SQL, PySpark. ML Engineering: scikit-learn, XGBoost, PyTorch, TensorFlow, MLflow, Optuna. Generative AI: LangChain, OpenAI API, Azure OpenAI, HuggingFace, vector databases. Data Platforms: Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake, PostgreSQL, Delta Lake.
