Client: Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS)
Location: Phoenix, AZ (Hybrid – Local Only)
Duration: 6–9 Months Contract-to-Hire
Contract End Date: 09/03/2026
Position Overview
AZASRS is seeking an experienced Systems / Network Engineer to join the Technical Services Division (TSD). This is a contract-to-hire role supporting a highly available, mission-critical hybrid infrastructure environment. The engineer will be responsible for hands-on infrastructure planning, deployment, monitoring, and operational support across on-prem and public cloud platforms.
⚠️ Local Phoenix candidates only – candidates must be available for in-person interviews and able to start within 2 weeks of offer.
Work Arrangement
Hybrid role
First week onsite, then once per quarter onsite
Office Location: 3300 N. Central Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85012
Required Skills
Strong understanding of multi-tiered application architecture
Windows Server & Linux Server administration
PowerShell scripting and automation
Experience with Active Directory and Group Policy
Infrastructure monitoring, troubleshooting, and production support
Familiarity with IT Service Management (ITSM) processes
Ability to work independently in a mission-critical environment
Preferred Skills
AWS (Amazon Web Services)
Jira
Cisco technologies
VMware
DevOps and automation experience
Cybersecurity awareness and vulnerability remediation
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with IT teams including Information Security, Service Desk, QA, Production Support, and vendors
Plan, deploy, and maintain highly available infrastructure and application environments
Proactively monitor systems and resolve complex infrastructure and application issues
Administer and support:
Multi-tier COTS applications
Public cloud services
Physical & virtual servers
Storage arrays and SAN
Security appliances
Active Directory & Group Policy
Secure remote access, RDS/VDI
Drive DevOps and automation improvements
Maintain accurate system documentation and procedures
Identify and remediate security vulnerabilities
Follow Incident, Problem, Configuration, and Change Management processes
Provide user support, ticket handling, escalation resolution, and documentation
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
Excellent communication and customer service abilities
Experience working in 24/7 enterprise environments
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and technologies
Proven organizational and time-management skills
Education & Certifications (Preferred)
Bachelor’s degree in Computer / Information Systems OR
5+ years experience as a server/network administrator in a medium-to-large enterprise
Relevant certifications (AWS, Cisco, Microsoft, VMware) are a plus
