POSITION SUMMARY
The Overnight Plant Supervisor is the senior on-site authority during overnight operations at BMPR. This role provides leadership coverage, operational decision-making, and accountability during night shifts, ensuring the plant continues to operate safely, efficiently, and without disruption when day-shift leadership is not present.
 
This is not a Production Supervisor role. Instead, the Overnight Plant Supervisor functions as an assistant-level plant leader, empowered to make real-time decisions, resolve issues, and move operations forward independently without routine escalation to the Production Manager or Plant Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Overnight Plant Leadership
Act as the primary decision-maker on site during overnight shifts.
Make timely operational decisions to keep the plant running without unnecessary delays.
Provide leadership presence and accountability across all overnight activities.
Ensure effective shift handovers and continuity between day and night operations.
Safety & Compliance
Enforce all safety policies and procedures during overnight operations.
Address safety concerns immediately and implement corrective actions as required.
Ensure all employees follow PPE requirements and safe work practices.
Operational Oversight
Monitor overnight plant activity to ensure operations continue smoothly.
Coordinate with maintenance for equipment issues, breakdowns, or urgent repairs.
Identify and resolve operational issues, bottlenecks, or disruptions as they arise.
Ensure plant standards and expectations are upheld consistently overnight.
People Leadership
Provide direction, support, and supervision to overnight staff.
Address attendance, performance, and conduct issues in line with company policy.
Maintain a professional, stable, and engaged overnight work environment.
Communication & Reporting
Document incidents, decisions, and key overnight events clearly for day shift leadership.
Participate in structured handovers to ensure transparency and continuity.
Escalate only issues that require senior leadership involvement
Education, Skills and Experience
Minimum 5+ years of supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or plant-based environment.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
Strong understanding of plant operations, safety standards, and industrial environments.
Comfortable supervising cross-functional plant functions overnight.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and judgment skills.
Ability to remain calm and decisive in overnight or high-pressure situations.
Post-secondary education in manufacturing, operations, or a related field is considered an asset but not required.
 
Working Environment and Physical Demands
Industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery and noise.
Ability to walk the floor, stand for extended periods, and perform occasional lifting.
Required use of PPE and adherence to safety protocols.
SALARY: $65-70K/year
