We're looking for a motivated team member to support our Property Tax function through accurate assessments, invoicing, and data analysis. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys numbers, organization, and learning in a collaborative environment.

As a property tax advisor, you will perform a range of basic tax assignments under minimal supervision. Responsibilities include providing analytical and administrative support. Entry level and New Grad professionals are welcome.

Minimum Requirements:

  • University Degree, preferably Business, Finance or Accounting related and usually a minimum of 2 years relevant experience, or technical Diploma or significant related work experience.

  • Knowledge and exposure to tax principles and concepts.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite with strong working knowledge of Excel.

  • Systems Utilized: Itamlink, SAP S4, and RTM for tax and lease data management.

  • Preference for someone working towards their professional designation within this area.

  • Working knowledge of applicable tax legislation, principles, practices, and administration.

  • Working knowledge of accounting and financial reporting concepts sufficient to understand how entries at one level will impact results at other levels.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Internal Payment Data Coordination: Collect payment data; manage terms within internal software systems.

  • Vendor Payment Oversight: Maintain vendor terms; manage reimbursements; act as primary liaison with municipal vendors.

  • Bill Payment Management: Track, schedule, and pay municipal property tax bills on time.

  • Asset Inventory & Tax Data Management: Maintain and update property asset inventory; process assessment notices through Property Tax Management Software (Itamlink).

  • Retail Tenant Chargebacks: Administer chargebacks based on Retail group lease terms.

  • Request For Information (RFI) Compliance: Respond to annual assessment information requests; access Retail lease info as needed.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with AP/AR, Retail, and other teams to maintain accurate data and improve processes.

  • Conduct basic data gathering, analysis, and financial assessments.

  • Understand compliance requirements, financial risks, and tax–accounting interrelationships.

  • Follow established policies, procedures, and practices when making routine decisions.

Location and other Key Details: 

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.

  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday.
