NewGround International is a multidisciplinary firm specializing in strategy, design, build, and interiors. We also are a MillerKnoll dealer, among other leading furniture lines. We are presently in search of a full-time employee to serve as an Interior Designer II. This Interior Designer II will be an integral part of a talented small team based in our Waterloo office. The successful candidate will be proficient with design of their own projects SF) and be ready to assist the team with multiple projects and duties that arise in a small studio environment.

Ideal candidates for this role will excel in collaborative environments, possess prior experience in retail, commercial and workplace interior design, and demonstrate ease in working with colleagues both locally and across our regional offices throughout North America.

GENERAL SKILLS
• Excellent organization, communication and presentation skills
• Well versed knowledge of building codes and accessibility codes
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Proficient with Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Enscape or Lumion,
• Experience with Sketchup, CET, InDesign, ProCore and BlueBeam
• Knowledge of Interior finishes, furniture, codes and construction processes
• Knowledge of retail branded environments, digital marketing and Environmental Graphics
• Strong knowledge of space planning, material selections and colour theory.
• Ability to pivot quickly from task to task
• Ability to manage several projects, of varying size, at once at different stages of development
• Ability to solve problems quickly, take and act on feedback, and collaborate effectively with team members, consultants and clients. Ability to mentor junior team members.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Review Materials from project programming, client Discovery Sessions and site analysis
• Generate interior design concepts and design finalization
• Act as Project Design Lead while working closely with the overall project team
• Generate and manage development of construction documents as part of the overall team.
• Prepare design packages for budget estimating
• Interface with sales, architecture, engineering, multimedia and construction on projects
• Generate and present concepts, interior finish drawings, furniture drawings and presentation boards to clients with a solid conceptual design aptitude
• Prepare Design Development Packages for turn over to the production department
• Manage Development of construction documents and specifications
• Assist Project Team in construction management with RFI's, ASI's and Addendums
• Assist in preparation of specifications
• Coordinate with MEP and Civil consultants
• Assist in checking shop drawings
• Review project on site.
• Attend project 1st Views, 40% walk through and final punch and prepare appropriate documentation
• Complete projects on schedule and within established budget
• Respond to Project Managers and clients in a timely manner
• Create, review and red-line furniture specifications and installation drawings
• Co-ordinate with the Environments and digital teams to cohesively bring the final vision of the space together.
• Perform all other related work, as assigned or as apparent

• Travel on a regular basis – approximately 30 to 40%. NewGround's work is national.


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE PREREQUISTIES
• Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture or related field required
• 7-10 years of professional experience in commercial Interior Design required
• Possession of a valid G driver's license is required for rental cars
• LEED and WellAP accreditation are preferred
• ARIDO or equivalent Certification will be given preference
