Your Opportunity 

We're looking for an Activities Manager. This role develops
and oversees the recreation program that provides fun and meaningful events,
activities and services that promotes an active lifestyle for residents in the
community.  


What You Will Do:  

  • Create a fun and uplifting atmosphere in the retirement community 
  • Develop strong relationships with residents, staff, families and community partners 
  • Plan, promote,
    implement and evaluate a dynamic recreation program that meets identified
    psychosocial, physical, intellectual and spiritual needs, interests and desires
    of the residents
  • Oversee
    the volunteers and/or staff (if applicable)  
  • Participate as a member of the management team and provides support to the other members of the team 
  • Champion
    all Seasons programs and promote wellness in the home
  • All other
    duties as assigned

Qualifications or Skills Required:  

  • Covid-19 vaccination is mandatory
  • S uccessful completion of a certified Recreation Therapist program (Applicable to Alberta)
  • Successful completion of a post-secondary diploma in one of the following areas of study: Activation, Gerontology, Kinesiology, Recreation or Rehabilitation from a recognized institution or relative professional equivalency 
  • Ability to relate to all levels of staff, the residents and their families, and other professionals with a high degree of patience, tolerance and tact - Excellent interpersonal skills 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills 
  • Strong leadership skills, good judgement and the ability to supervise others
  • Strong ability to motivate and inspire others while providing an outgoing, creative and fun loving environment
  • Class 5 License (AB) or Valid G License (ON) with proof of a Clean Drivers Abstract
  • Current CPR & First Aid Certification
  • Current Safe Food Handler's Certification
  • Current Smart Serve/Pro Serve Certification (Applicable to Ontario/Alberta)
  • Knowledge of retirement programming and community resources 
  • Experience working with seniors is considered an asset
