We're excited to share that we are hiring for a Manager, Policy & Commercial Development for our Calgary office.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the VP, Government Relations & Commercial the Manager, Policy & Commercial Development will be responsible to:

  • Provide analysis to inform policy recommendations that advance the delivery of organizational strategies and business plans.
  • Analyze and understand emerging market opportunities and the implications of policy changes to AltaLink's existing business and opportunity set.
  • Develop and coordinate government submissions to various levels of government and agencies for programs that align with AltaLink's business objectives.
  • Develop, secure regulatory approval, and execute new customer solutions offerings.
  • Provide leadership, prepare, and negotiate commercial terms for third-party commercial agreements. 
  • Lead a team of three talented professionals to grow their skillsets and to help them achieve their career ambitions along with AltaLink's goals.
  • Collaborate with team members in Government Relations & Commercial, as well as cross-functional leaders, on various initiatives.
  • Demonstrate key behaviors and meet identified expectations outlined in our four cultural pillars – one team, continuous improvement, customer focus and personal accountability.

Requirements

  • Related post-secondary education, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 10 year's industry experience in the pipeline, midstream, petrochemicals, petroleum refining industries, and/or electricity (generation or wires) industry.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience leading commercial activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, pursue and conclude new business opportunities with customers and strategic partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, negotiate and conclude commercial contracts and negotiations.
  • Demonstrated ability to grow a team of talented individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct analysis to advance future policy decisions including the ability to collect, summarize, review data, and relay the narrative to stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a regulated business.
  • Proven ability/experience in the above noted responsibilities.
  • Strong presentation and written communication skills.
  • Professional demeanor and team player with the ability to work within and lead multi discipline teams including Finance, Legal, Regulatory, Operations, and Engineering.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interface with team members and customers to promote positive customer and stakeholder outcomes
  • Valid Driver's License as some travel may be required.
  • Proven track record of exceptional performance.
