Sterling Infrastructure is seeking a hands-on Web Applications Developer to support and enhance web-based solutions used across our business units. This is a 1099 contract position based on-site in The Woodlands, TX and is ideal for an experienced developer who prefers contract work and thrives in a collaborative, in-office environment. This role focuses heavily on WordPress development, while also leveraging modern frameworks such as React, Angular, and .NET within an Azure cloud environment. Youll also use AI-powered development tools (such as Cursor and Claude) to accelerate development, improve code quality, and streamline workflows. What Youll Do
Develop, maintain, and customize WordPress websites, themes, and plugins Build secure, scalable, and responsive web applications using React, Angular, and .NET Collaborate with internal teams to gather requirements, design solutions, and deliver high-quality applications Integrate applications with APIs, databases, and third-party services Ensure security best practices and company standards in an Azure-hosted environment Leverage AI development tools (Cursor, Claude, or similar) for code generation, refactoring, debugging, and documentation Monitor and optimize application performance; troubleshoot issues and deploy updates Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment processes Maintain technical documentation, workflows, and maintenance procedures Provide timely, professional support to administrators, end users, and stakeholders Perform related duties as assigned Position Requirements
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent professional experience 2+ years developing and maintaining WordPress sites, including custom themes and plugins 2+ years experience with React, Angular, or similar front-end frameworks 2+ years experience with .NET web application development Experience working within Azure (App Services, Key Vault, Storage, CI/CD pipelines) Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive design principles Experience integrating RESTful APIs and databases (SQL Server or similar) Familiarity with DevOps practices, containerization (Docker), and version control (Git) Experience using AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, Claude, or similar) Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders Contract Details
