New team members typically spend up to four days per week in the office during the early weeks for onboarding and training; we’ll then agree a pattern that works for you and the team, with two days in the office as a minimum.
*Key Responsibilities *
Systems Development & Platform Delivery
* Collaborate with the Systems Team to develop, enhance and maintain EMSL’s suite of business applications and databases, ensuring optimal functionality, performance and security.
* Contribute to the continued development of our own software platform, improving its capability to integrate data from diverse energy assets and deliver actionable insights.
* Develop and maintain custom web and database applications using Microsoft technologies (SQL Server, .NET, Power Platform and IIS).
* Support the implementation of automated data processes and integrations to streamline reporting and performance tracking.
* Support system upgrades, migrations and new feature deployments, ensuring minimal business disruption and appropriate change control.
Stakeholder Support & Operations
* Engage with stakeholders across the business to gather requirements, analyse workflows and deliver practical system solutions that improve operational efficiency.
* Support the management and optimisation of Windows Server and SQL Server environments, including access control, performance monitoring and recovery procedures.
* Design, test and document new features and functionality in line with good development practice.
* Provide technical troubleshooting and user support for EMSL’s business applications and internal users.
* Contribute to EMSL’s ongoing digital transformation by supporting strategic technology initiatives and continuous improvement.
*Who You Are *
*Essential*
* Some hands-on experience (e.g., internship, placement, or early-career role) in software development or system administration within a technical or data-driven environment.
* Strong skills with Microsoft technologies, including SQL Server (T‑SQL, stored procedures, views), .NET/ASP.NET and the Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, SharePoint).
* Working knowledge of Windows Server administration (2019/2022) and web application fundamentals (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and IIS management.
* Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality outputs.
* A collaborative, communicative approach and the ability (and willingness to develop further) to translate business needs into effective technical solutions.
*Desirable *
* Experience in data integration and automation across multi-source systems.
* Knowledge of data analytics and reporting tools, such as Power BI (or equivalent).
* Familiarity with software version control and DevOps practices.
* Familiarity with energy sector operations or industrial data environments.
* Interest in emerging technologies that support sustainability and operational excellence.
