About
We are seeking a reliable Shipping Clerk for our Chicago, Illinois facility. In this vital role, you will ensure that customer orders are accurately picked, packed, and dispatched, playing a key part in our overall logistics and customer satisfaction efforts. Your duties will include verifying order details, selecting the correct items from inventory, carefully packing them for shipment, applying appropriate labels and documentation, and arranging for carrier pickups. You will work collaboratively with other warehouse staff to maintain efficiency and meet demanding shipping schedules. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, and the capacity to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Safety is our utmost priority, and adherence to all safety protocols, including the consistent use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), is mandatory. This role requires the ability to stand for extended periods, good manual dexterity, and the capability for occasional lifting. Prior experience with shipping processes and familiarity with logistics concepts will be advantageous.
Responsibilities:
- Retrieve items from inventory based on customer orders.
- Pack products securely using appropriate materials to prevent damage.
- Print and affix shipping labels and required documentation accurately.
- Coordinate with shipping carriers for scheduled pickups.
- Perform quality checks on all outgoing shipments.
- Maintain a tidy and well-organized shipping station.
- Assist with inventory tasks and cycle counts as directed.
- Follow all company safety guidelines and procedures, including the correct use of PPE.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a shipping or warehouse role is preferred.
- Proficiency in using scanning equipment and basic computer applications.
- Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to stand for long durations and lift up to 30 pounds.
- Basic knowledge of logistics and shipping requirements.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Commitment to safety and willingness to wear PPE.
Physical Demands: This job requires prolonged periods of standing and walking, along with bending and occasional lifting.
