We are hiring a dedicated Material Handler for our Virginia Beach, Virginia facility. In this crucial role within our logistics department, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of materials throughout the warehouse. Your duties will include loading and unloading trucks, transporting materials to and from storage areas, operating material handling equipment, and assisting with order picking and packing as needed. Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment is paramount, requiring strict adherence to all safety protocols, the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and expert knowledge of safe lifting practices. The ideal candidate is reliable, physically capable, and possesses a strong understanding of warehouse operations and safety. Responsibilities:
- Load and unload materials from trucks, trailers, and shipping docks.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Transport materials to and from designated storage areas within the warehouse.
- Assist with picking and packing orders as directed.
- Ensure materials are handled and stored properly to prevent damage.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the mandatory use of PPE.
- Follow all safe lifting techniques and ergonomic guidelines.
- Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment and report any malfunctions.
- Assist with inventory counts and stock placement.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding material movement and needs.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse/logistics role is required.
- Proven ability to operate material handling equipment, with certification preferred.
- Physical ability to perform demanding tasks, including frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Solid understanding of warehouse operations and logistics.
- Commitment to adhering to safety regulations and wearing required PPE.
- Good hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to read and understand work orders and safety labels.
