Job Description Join Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and help us revolutionize public cloud technology through dedicated, hybrid, multi-cloud, and edge computing services. With deployments across 50 regions globally, we are on a mission to deliver high-impact applications for enterprises. As part of our Technical Strategy and Oversight (TSO) organization, you will be contributing to exciting projects aimed at creating innovative platforms, developing high-performance frameworks, and launching a new container runtime tailored to OCI's demanding requirements. Our goal is to enhance engineering efficiency through expertly designed low-level systems widely adopted across OCI's core services. We are forming a new OCI Performance team and are looking for a passionate engineering leader who will: Build and expand the team from the ground up.
Identify and implement new KPIs to improve efficiency and availability for internal services.
Develop innovative services and tools that will drive OCI's next-generation cloud capabilities.

We seek an individual who has a proven track record of building and optimizing high-scale cloud services, possessing deep insights into efficiency and cost-effectiveness. You have leadership experience in performance-critical initiatives within complex cloud systems and understand how to integrate performance into core architecture. The ideal candidate is dedicated to achieving measurable improvements in throughput, latency, resource efficiency, and reliability across services. You have successfully led high-performing engineering teams and cross-organizational projects, with expertise in developing performance-oriented services, libraries, and platforms that significantly influence the engineering ecosystem. With technical acumen, you thrive at the intersection of engineering leadership and performance optimization. You have empowered teams to enhance their speed and safety through improved tooling and engineering practices. You proactively advocate for the adoption of performance engineering as a vital discipline. Responsibilities Define technical, product, operational, and organizational strategies for the Cloud Performance initiative.
Lead a diverse team of engineers focused on performance measurement, optimization, and tooling.
Establish a strong performance engineering culture within multiple OCI service teams.
Direct the architecture and methodologies for load testing, performance benchmarking, and optimization at cloud scale.
Oversee the development of shared performance engineering tools, including load generators, measurement agents, and analysis platforms.
Collaborate with OCI service teams to integrate performance best practices into their software development life cycle (SDLC).
Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, from engineering teams to executive audiences.
Mentor and nurture the next generation of technical leaders in performance engineering.
Drive measurable improvements in service throughput, latency, and overall efficiency and cost-effectiveness across OCI.
Qualifications: At least 3 years in a senior management or senior technical leadership role.
A minimum of 5 years experience in large-scale distributed systems, cloud services, or performance engineering.
BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
Demonstrated success in leading cross-organizational technical initiatives with measurable business impact.
In-depth knowledge of cloud performance concepts, including latency, throughput, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
Experience using performance benchmarking and optimization tools and methodologies.
Strong distributed systems architecture and design skills.
Familiarity with core cloud infrastructure components like compute, storage, and networking and their performance characteristics.
Exceptional leadership, mentorship, and people management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

The hiring range for this role is $107,100 to $251,600 per annum, with potential eligibility for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
