About the Role:

We are seeking an Associate Business Partner with at least three years of HR Generalist experience who is ready to take the next step in their career. This position will primarily support our Corporate and Content & Marketing teams across Corus, offering the opportunity to work closely with creative and dynamic leaders in a fast-paced media environment.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, People & Culture, our Associate Business Partners are trusted advisors who provide guidance to leaders on recruitment, performance management, conflict resolution, compensation, employee engagement, and employee and labour relations. In this role, you will be a key partner to our management teams, helping them build strong, engaged, and high-performing teams.

You will contribute by: 

  • Perpetuating a culture of high performance through effective leader coaching and feedback.
  • Advising leaders on the effective use of professional development plans, performance improvement plans, progressive discipline, and risk-mitigated termination decisions.
  • Coaching leaders on creating an environment where positive employee relations are foundational to the successful outcome of high employee engagement and retention in service of the successful delivery of business objectives.
  • Working with the Total Rewards team to provide guidance on compensation decisions for new hires, lateral moves, promotions, off-cycle changes, merit, and market adjustments.
  • With direction from the Senior Manager People & Culture, undertaking internal investigations into employment-related matters
  • Interpretation and implementation of relevant employment practices (e.g., Provincial and Federal employment and human rights legislation, collective agreements, labour law, etc.)
  • Partnering with Total Rewards, Payroll, Talent Development, Labour Relations, DEI, and the rest of the Business Partner team.

Skills and experience you will bring: 

  • Degree/diploma in Business and/or Human Resources complemented by related work experience in a human resources generalist role
  • Knowledge of HR practices and principles
  • Knowledge and experience of Federal employment legislation (e.g., Canada Labour Code)
  • Knowledge of unionized environments
  • CHRP designation (or in progress) is an asset
  • Demonstrates consulting and coaching skills
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship-building and influencing skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
  • A positive attitude and client-driven approach that will enable you to deal with challenging situations with integrity, empathy, and sincerity
