About The Company
Sigma Technologies, Ltd. is a dynamic and expanding engineering and design firm with a presence across more than 30 states and a team exceeding 500 professionals. For over 25 years, we have been dedicated to supporting major power and telecommunications utilities through innovative engineering solutions that directly impact communities nationwide. Our core values—Safety, Honesty, Truth, and Decency—are the foundation of our organizational culture and guide our commitment to excellence. At Sigma, we foster a collaborative environment that encourages professional growth, integrity, and a dedication to delivering high-quality projects. Our mission is to provide reliable, efficient, and sustainable utility infrastructure solutions, ensuring the safety and well-being of the communities we serve.

About The Role
We are seeking a skilled Power Distribution & Make Ready Designer to join our team remotely, supporting critical utility engineering projects. This role is ideal for professionals with experience in overhead utility pole design, joint-use engineering, and NESC-compliant make-ready work. The successful candidate will play a vital role in reviewing field data, evaluating attachment conditions, modeling pole loading, and preparing construction-ready design packages. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals who are detail-oriented, collaborative, and committed to accuracy. The role requires attendance at a two-week paid, in-person orientation at our Perrysburg, Ohio headquarters to ensure seamless integration into our workflows and standards.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or equivalent, with an associate degree or higher in engineering, drafting, or a related field preferred. A minimum of two years of experience in make-ready engineering, joint-use design, or electric power distribution design is required, with three or more years strongly preferred. Proven experience in utility pole design, including NESC application, clearance analysis, pole loading, and construction package preparation is essential. Proficiency with CAD or MicroStation, along with experience using utility design platforms such as DDS, Katapult, or O-Calc, is highly desirable. Candidates must hold a valid driver's license, maintain active auto insurance, and pass background, drug, and MVR screenings. Authorization to work in the United States and willingness to occasionally travel are also required. Strong communication skills and the ability to work within a team environment are critical for success in this role.

Responsibilities
In this role, you will execute overhead distribution and make-ready work orders, ensuring adherence to quality, time, and budget expectations. Your responsibilities include applying established engineering standards, NESC requirements, and internal processes to develop accurate design solutions. You will perform end-to-end make-ready, joint-use, and general distribution design tasks, including permitting and easement research related to pole ownership, right-of-way, and property rights. Collaboration with team members to resolve design challenges and ensure deliverable accuracy is vital. You will utilize design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, DDS, PoleForeman, O-Calc, and Katapult, among others. Conducting quality control reviews, supporting additional duties as assigned, and maintaining compliance with utility construction standards are also integral parts of this position.

Benefits
At Sigma Technologies, we prioritize the health, happiness, and security of our employees. We offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes a no-cost monthly healthcare plan option, competitive salary, and medical, dental, and vision plans with up to 80% of premiums sponsored by Sigma. Our 401(k) plan features matching contributions up to 5% of salary, providing a valuable opportunity for retirement savings. Employees enjoy paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave, along with education and professional licensing assistance to support continuous growth. Our positive work environment fosters collaboration, support, and professional development, ensuring our team members thrive both personally and professionally.
