About
Position Summary
Plan, direct and coordinates transportation operations for building materials for Millard Lumber Inc.
Position Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Understanding of FMCSA rules/guidelines, ELD and DOT regulations as relates to dispatch and driver/load selection. Directs activities related to dispatching, routing or tracking transportation vehicles.
- Properly plans, reviews orders, production schedules to determine work sequences and material delivery dates, types, volumes or destinations. Coordinates reloads for minimum waiting or down time to meet transportation, operations or productions goals.
- Plan, organize and/or manage the work of subordinate staff to ensure that work is accomplished in a manner consistent with Millard Lumber operations. Drives vehicles or operates equipment to complete work assignments or to assists workers.
- Understands customer delivery requirements and ensures service is consistently achieved. Confer with, customers, supervisors, contractors or other personnel to exchange information and/or directs investigation to verify and resolve customer complaints.
- Recommend and implement measures to improve worker motivation, equipment performance, work methods or customer services. Resolves or collaborates with employees to assist in problem resolution. Recommends/Implements personnel actions, such as selection, evaluation, rewards or disciplinary actions.
- Promote safe work environment by conducting safety audits, attend company safety meetings, or meeting with individual staff members. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required and assigned.
Education/Experience
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience required.
- Minimum of 1-year in dispatch and/or delivery experience.
- Nebraska and surrounding state regulations regarding height and weight maximums preferred.
- Forklift experience, Electronic Logging Devices (ELD) experience a plus
Other Requirements
- Must have current DOT certification and valid, unrestricted license
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and physical
- Work morning/evening hours during the week, required weekends
- Maintenance of regular attendance
- Ensures dispatch software programs are updated as needed.

- Verbal & Written Communication skills and map/GPS reading abilities
- Maneuver large vehicles on highways, inter-city and traffic routes
- Ability to comply to daily changes to deliveries/schedules with a positive attitude
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Superior problem- solving abilities along with a can- do attitude
- Ability to work as an individual and as a team to meet delivery goals
- Willing to obtain other training if deemed necessary in performance of responsibilities and continuing education
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Normal office conditions apply and may be performed within a warehouse or production environment.
- Employee must have clear, close vision for reading and computer work. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, balance, stoop, grasp, talk, hear and operate computer keyboard. Job may require reaching at or above shoulder level and below waist. Will occasionally lift/push/pull up to 80 pounds.
- Working conditions are subject to temperature variations, hazardous chemicals, mechanical parts, increased noise levels and dust.
