Position Overview
Join us in the summer of 2026 and help us continue the legacy of fostering creativity, nurturing talent, and celebrating the individual artistic journey at Interlochen. We are seeking enthusiastic and adaptable Day Camp Assistants who embody our core values and are committed to nurturing young artists. As a Day Camp Assistant, you will support the Day Camp Instructors in activities and events throughout the camp day, all while fully immersing yourself in the unique environment that only a summer camp can offer. The day camp will offer weekly arts-integrated programming, Monday through Friday, from 8:45 am- 4:15 pm.
What You Get To Do
- Support instructors with dynamic arts-integrated activities and lead as needed.
- Model appropriate behavior at all times as outlined in the Arts Discovery Family Handbook.
- Build positive relationships with campers.
- Support other departments' instructors in their time with day campers.
- Communicate in a professional manner with camper families and Interlochen faculty / staff
- Assist with planning and office tasks such as making copies, hole-punching, printing documents, organizing supplies, preparing materials, etc.
- Be a team member in keeping our space orderly, clean, and welcoming.
- Attend all staff training and professional development, including weekly staff meetings
- Other duties as assigned

What You Need
- Availability 6/15/ /9/2026
- Prepared to live in a residence hall with a roommate. While we offer accessible housing accommodations, please note that due to the rustic nature of our camp, these options are limited.
- Committed to inspiring creativity, confidence, and independence in our campers
- Experience and interest working with children exiting grades 1st - 6th
- Artistic interest in one or more of the following areas is a plus: visual arts, music, dance, or theater.
- Education majors are encouraged to apply
- Experience with outdoor or environmental education is a plus
- Must have the ability to effectively engage in appropriate communication (verbal and non-verbal) with students, staff, and parents
- Willing to perform your duties both inside and outside, rain or shine
- Committed to the inclusion and acceptance of others
- Able to think on your feet and manage emergent situations should they arise
***Note: Arts Discovery Day Camp is located at the Interlochen Community Center (ICC). Instructors and assistants are responsible for transporting themselves to and from the ICC, which is located across the street from Bud's.***
