Job Title: BRC / QA Coordinator

Reports To: Director of Quality Assurance

Overview

The BRC / QA Coordinator supports the Quality Assurance team and cross-functional departments including Warehouse by managing food safety and quality systems, documentation, and compliance activities. This role is responsible for coordinating the implementation, maintenance, and verification of the facility's BRCGS Food Safety Management System, ensuring compliance with regulatory, customer, and internal requirements.

Candidates with SQF experience will be considered, as comparable GFSI experience is transferable to BRCGS requirements.

Key Responsibilities

BRC Food Safety & Quality Systems

  • Coordinate the implementation, maintenance, and verification of the BRCGS Food Safety Management System, including Senior Management Commitment, HACCP, Food Safety & Quality Management System, Site Standards, Product Control, Process Control, and Personnel requirements.
  • Assist the Quality Assurance Manager with preparation for and successful completion of BRCGS certification audits and regulatory inspections (FDA, state, or local authorities).
  • Support development, review, and validation of Food Safety Plans (HACCP and FSMA Preventive Controls) in alignment with BRCGS and FDA requirements for Warehouse and Distribution.
  • Maintain audit readiness through routine internal reviews, documentation control, and verification activities.

Prerequisite Programs (PRPs)

  • Coordinate and verify the effectiveness of prerequisite programs, including:
  • GWPs / Good Warehouse Practices
  • Sanitation
  • Pest Control Program
  • Preventive Maintenance
  • Equipment Calibration
  • Waste Management
  • Allergen Control
  • Employee Training Programs
  • Conduct routine plant inspections and direct observations to ensure BRC compliance.

Documentation & Record Control

  • Maintain document control for SOPs, SSOPs, HACCP plans, food safety plans, specifications, batch records, and forms.
  • Generate, review, revise, and approve revision-controlled documentation as required.
  • Maintain databases for ingredients, packaging materials, and finished products.
  • Request, review, and approve documentation from suppliers to support supplier approval and verification programs.

Monitoring, Verification & Continuous Improvement

  • Perform facility observations to verify HACCP, GWP, SOP, and sanitation compliance.
  • Review, trend, and analyze food safety and quality data to identify risks, improvement opportunities, and corrective actions.
  • Support investigations of non-conformances, deviations, and customer complaints; assist with Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and food safety culture development.

Training & Communication

  • Assist with training employees across all departments on:
  • BRCGS Food Safety requirements
  • HACCP and FSMA Preventive Controls
  • GWPs and Allergen Control
  • Sanitation and Food Defense
  • Communicate food safety and quality performance metrics to management.

Cross-Functional Support

  • Work directly with Management, Supervisors, and hourly employees to ensure effective implementation of BRCGS programs.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Associate's or higher degree required

Experience:

  • 1–2 years of experience in Quality Systems Management within food manufacturing or warehouse and distribution facilities.
  • Hands-on experience with BRCGS Food Safety strongly preferred
  • SQF experience will be considered due to GFSI equivalency
  • Working knowledge of HACCP, FSMA, GMPs, and FDA regulations

Certifications (preferred):

  • HACCP Certification
  • PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual)
  • BRCGS or SQF Practitioner certification

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to train, coach, and influence employees at all levels
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

Pay: $ $29.44 per hour
