Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Resident Assistant to provide quality care and support to residents in a long-term care or assisted living environment. The ideal candidate will assist with daily activities, ensure residents' safety, and promote a comfortable and engaging living experience. This role requires a strong commitment to resident well-being, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team. The Resident Assistant plays a vital role in enhancing residents' quality of life through personalized support and compassionate caregiving.
Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance
- Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature

- Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, fostering a positive environment
- Assist with meals
- Operate equipment such as Hoyer lifts safely to aid mobility and transfers
- Maintain cleanliness of resident rooms and common areas in accordance with health standards

- Support residents with memory care needs, including dementia or Alzheimer's care strategies
- Respond promptly to resident calls or emergencies, ensuring safety at all times
- Participate in care planning meetings and collaborate with healthcare professionals to meet individual needs
Qualifications
- Prior experience in long-term care, assisted living, or home & community care preferred
- Knowledge of dementia, Alzheimer's, and memory care techniques
- Certification or training in first aid and CPR is highly desirable
- Experience assisting with ADLs
- Ability to work compassionately with seniors, individuals with disabilities, or those requiring special care
- Strong communication skills and patience when working with residents experiencing cognitive or physical challenges

- Valid driver's license may be required for transportation duties in some settings
- Physical ability to assist residents with mobility tasks using Hoyer lifts or other equipment
- Flexibility to work various shifts as needed; some positions may require evening or weekend hours
