_Experienced Veterinary Technician _
Job Title: Veterinary Technician (non-certified or certified)
Salary: $14-19/hr
Schedule: Full time (37-40 hours a week) with rotating weekends

Northwood Animal Hospital and Pets Emergency is seeking a passionate Veterinary Technician to join our team! We are looking for a Veterinary Technician who has a minimum of 2 years of experience at an animal hospital. As a Veterinary Technician, you would be working full time 4 day work weeks with varying shifts from 7am-6pm, 8:30am-6pm or 11am-8:30pm. The team also rotates weekends. Some holiday availability is required.

Our Veterinary Technician staff are given the opportunity to work at a hospital where we take progressive veterinary medicine to the next level. They treat varying species and are always expanding their knowledge in medicine and technical skills. They are highly trained in areas such as our general practice, critical care, wildlife, exotics, emergency, and surgery.
A Northwood Animal Hospital veterinary technician should:
* be punctual and reliable.
* work well with others and be capable of building a rapport with clients.
* follow protocols set forth for the safety and happiness of staff and pets.
* maintain hygienic practices in accordance with contagious disease prevention.
* be a compassionate empathizer.
* be able to place IV catheters in critical, hospitalized, or surgical patients in small animals and exotics.
* be able to perform venipuncture in accordance to AAHA’s standards in small animals and exotics.
* be responsible for collecting appropriate histories on patients.
* understand the techniques of performing diagnostics such as blood and skin cytologies, radiographs, fecal floats, snap tests, and blood work on IDEXX laboratory machines.
* multitask well with interacting with several appointments at one time.
* understand and be able to explain the various payment plans we offer to our clients.
* be able to perform laser therapy on patients.
* be capable of offering veterinary knowledge in a non-condescending way and offer resources to clients about their pet’s medical care.
* show interest in continuing education with veterinary medicine and have the desire to broaden your knowledge in the field.
* be observant and vigilant when monitoring and nursing our hospitalized patients.
* be competent at taking digital radiographs along with performing routine dental prophies.
* function as a technician who is cross trained in appointments, ICU, and surgery.
