Senior Data Engineer

GlobalSource IT is seeking a Senior Data Engineer for a client to help design, build, and evolve a modern, scalable data platform supporting enterprise reporting, analytics, and data-driven decision-making. This role partners closely with business stakeholders, analysts, architects, and engineering teams to deliver reliable, governed, and high-quality data assets in a cloud-first environment.

What You'll Do

• Design and implement scalable data ingestion, transformation, and integration pipelines (batch and near real-time).
• Apply strong SQL and data engineering practices across Snowflake, Azure, and PostgreSQL environments.
• Build and maintain automated, governed pipelines aligned with enterprise data standards, security, and compliance requirements.
• Implement CI/CD, testing, monitoring, and observability to ensure pipeline reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with analytics teams to deliver curated datasets and semantic layers supporting BI and advanced analytics.
• Contribute to data modeling, metadata, lineage, and documentation initiatives.
• Participate in platform modernization, tool evaluation, and continuous improvement efforts.

Required Experience

• 7-10 years in data engineering or related roles.
• Strong SQL expertise; experience with Snowflake, Azure, and PostgreSQL.
• Proficiency in Python and at least one additional programming language (e.g., Java).
• Hands-on experience with orchestration and integration tools such as Azure Data Factory, Airflow, or similar.
• Experience with ELT/ETL frameworks and transformation tools (e.g., DBT, Coalesce).
• Familiarity with CI/CD for data platforms (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, etc.).
• Solid understanding of data modeling, governance, quality, and lineage concepts.

• Location: Candidates must currently reside in the Chicagoland area and be able to work in a hybrid schedule.
• Work Authorization: The client is unable to provide visa sponsorship now or in the future. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
