About
Granados Law Group, PLLC is seeking a driven and ambitious criminal defense associate attorney to join our Cary, NC/Wake County-based firm. Must be organized, have good communication skills, be comfortable working in court daily and self-sufficient. You will be responsible for representing clients in a wide range of criminal cases in District Court, with an emphasis on DWI litigation and DMV hearings and low-level felonies. The ideal candidate will be able to pick up a caseload and handle cases independently from start to finish, but we are willing to train the right person Supervising attorney has 18 years of criminal law experience and is willing to mentor a young attorney.
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting client interviews and quoting prospective clients
- Conducting research and analyzing cases to determine the probable outcome and devise an effective strategy to defend clients in court
- Representing clients at pre-trial hearings and trials in District Court
- Conducting investigations, obtain and review discovery and research legal issues.
- Negotiating pleas with prosecutors
- Reviewing criminal records to determine eligibility for expunctions as well as prepare, review, and sign expunction petitions
- Working within a small firm environment, with opportunity for mentorship and second chair with senior associate and owner of firm
- Former criminal defense or prosecution experience in Wake County is ideal. Preference will also be given for completion of internship(s) with the Wake County DA, Wake County PD or a private criminal defense law firm in Wake County
- Spanish-speaking or other foreign language skills are preferred, but not required
