Position Overview

We are seeking an Internal Power BI Developer to lead the development of our enterprise reporting and business intelligence capabilities. This role is designed for a professional who is equally comfortable working with financial data and operational or engineering datasets. After several years of investment in data acquisition systems and processes, this position will be instrumental in transforming that data into meaningful, decision-ready insights.

The Internal Power BI Developer will design, build, and maintain scalable dashboards, reports, and data models that support executive leadership and key operational teams. This individual will work closely with finance, operations, and IT to deliver integrated reporting solutions that enable financial visibility, operational performance tracking, and strategic decision-making.

Key ResponsibilitiesPower BI & Business Intelligence Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and semantic models
  • Create executive-level dashboards and KPI reporting for financial and operational performance
  • Develop and optimize DAX measures and Power Query (M) transformations
  • Ensure reporting solutions are performant, scalable, and user-friendly

Data Modeling, SQL & Systems Integration

  • Build and maintain data models that support both financial and operational analytics
  • Integrate data from Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, SQL databases, and internal systems
  • Collaborate with IT on data pipelines, ETL processes, and report refresh strategies
  • Validate data accuracy, consistency, and completeness across all reporting sources

Financial & Operational Reporting

  • Develop financial dashboards and reports including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and variance analysis
  • Support operational and engineering teams with utilization, performance, and asset-based reporting
  • Translate business and technical requirements into effective BI and reporting solutions

Governance, Security & Enablement

  • Implement row-level security and manage user access within Power BI
  • Maintain documentation, data definitions, and reporting standards
  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert for Power BI and reporting tools
  • Train end users and promote adoption of dashboards and analytics solutions

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as a Power BI Developer, Business Intelligence Developer, or Data Analyst
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Power BI, including DAX and Power Query (M)
  • Solid understanding of financial reporting, accounting concepts, and business KPIs
  • Experience working with operational, engineering, or asset-based datasets
  • Experience integrating data from ERP systems; Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in SQL and working with relational databases
  • Proven experience delivering executive dashboards and automated reporting
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with finance, operations, and executive stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct development or advanced reporting experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
  • Experience with Azure data services such as Azure SQL, Data Factory, or Synapse
  • Background in oilfield services, energy, or other asset-intensive industries
  • Familiarity with data governance, data quality, and master data management concepts
