About The Role
The Veeva PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) team is seeking a highly skilled Principal DevOps Engineer to lead the design and development of our next-generation infrastructure on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This role involves spearheading the migration of our existing platform and establishing a scalable, reliable environment from the ground up. The ideal candidate will have full ownership of tooling, automation, and the CI/CD pipeline within a dynamic, startup-like setting. This position is perfect for a hands-on, self-motivated professional who excels at balancing performance, cost-efficiency, and system reliability. The Principal DevOps Engineer will play a critical role in shaping the architectural vision of our infrastructure, implementing best practices, and ensuring the platform's robustness. The role offers an exciting opportunity to influence the future of Veeva's technology stack, introduce innovative security policies, and ensure operational excellence across all stages of development and deployment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in DevOps or related roles
  • Extensive expertise in designing and deploying cloud architectures within AWS
  • Proficiency in core AWS services such as VPC, EKS, EC2, IAM, and S3
  • Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Kubernetes
  • Strong skills in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform and Ansible
  • Expertise in CI/CD pipeline development with GitLab, Jenkins, or similar tools
  • Solid understanding of monitoring and observability frameworks such as Grafana, Prometheus, and Elasticsearch
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Bash or Groovy (preferred)
  • Experience with artifact management solutions such as Nexus or ECR (preferred)
  • Knowledge of code validation and linting tools like Sonar (preferred)
  • Ability to work within PST or MST time zones
  • Legal right to work in the United States; sponsorship is not available for this role

Responsibilities

  • Lead the architectural design and implementation of scalable, reliable cloud infrastructure on AWS
  • Drive DevOps best practices by establishing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code (IaC) strategies using Terraform and Ansible
  • Develop, manage, and optimize end-to-end CI/CD pipelines to streamline development, testing, and deployment processes
  • Ensure platform reliability by focusing on durability, availability, performance, and correctness, minimizing system failures
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to recommend and implement architectural enhancements, security policies, and new operational methodologies
  • Monitor system health and performance, leveraging observability tools to proactively address issues
  • Lead migration efforts and build scalable environments from scratch, ensuring seamless transition and minimal downtime
  • Document infrastructure, processes, and best practices to support ongoing maintenance and team onboarding
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve infrastructure and operational efficiency
