We are seeking for a Systems Engineer for a Full-time position located in Tampa, FL.

This is a remote position; however, candidates must reside within reasonable driving distance of our Tampa, FL headquarters, as there will be a requirement to come into the office once a month on a designated day.

General Description

The Systems Engineer is responsible for the installation, integration, and ongoing support of company and multi-vendor systems, including hardware, software, networking products, and operating systems. This role focuses on delivering high levels of client satisfaction while serving as a technical expert and primary point of contact for assigned projects.

The engineer will lead integration projects when assigned, validate proposed and existing client hardware and software configurations, and collaborate with the sales team to recommend alternative strategies and solutions when needed. This position is recognized internally as a subject matter expert within their field.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Participate in pre-sales activities to support the design of multi-vendor service solutions
  • Perform comprehensive technical reviews of proposed service solutions
  • Research unfamiliar technologies identified during pre-sales or project turnover and assist leadership with adoption strategies
  • Support remote management of client and internal server environments to meet agreed service levels and availability
  • Guide and support scheduled remedial system management activities performed by the operations team
  • Provide incident resolution and change fulfillment in accordance with established best practices
  • Proactively manage systems to reduce incidents and recurring issues within managed environments
  • Participate in on-site implementation and installation of server and management components
  • Utilize and maintain enterprise management and monitoring toolsets
  • Collaborate closely with internal and external support teams
  • Ensure all assigned service tickets meet contractual SLA response and resolution requirements
  • Provide support, guidance, and technical direction to on-site DNI staff
  • Lead and perform DNI network contractual requirements for Service Delivery Engineer Levels 2 & 3
  • Mentor junior engineers and serve as an escalation point for complex issues

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to provide Tier 1–3 technical support on a daily basis
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to function effectively in high-stress, fast-paced environments
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Positive attitude with a demonstrated willingness to learn and adapt
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and management levels
  • Experience creating and maintaining network documentation
  • Proficiency in configuring routers, switches, and troubleshooting Windows servers
  • Experience troubleshooting network issues using packet sniffers, LAN analyzers, and SNMP tools
  • Familiarity with infrastructure monitoring solutions, helpdesk platforms, and ticketing systems
  • Ability to perform system upgrades and explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Experience, Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in network management and response services
  • Cisco CCNA highly desired
  • Experience with Layer 3 switching, NAT, SD-WAN, WAN, STP, VTP, 802.1Q, ISL, BGP, and EIGRP
  • Strong experience with virtualization technologies (VMware and/or Hyper-V)
  • Experience managing Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, and network server environments
  • Additional certifications such as A+, Security+, MCP, MCSE, or MCSA are a plus

Availability Requirements

  • Flexibility to support a 24x7 environment as required
  • Ability to work 8-hour shifts
  • Availability for overnight, weekend, early, or late shifts when scheduled in advance
  • On-call availability as needed
  • Ability to work from a home office with reliable internet access

Travel Requirements

  • This position requires travel to customer locations and may include overnight stays

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to communicate verbally with customers and internal staff
  • Ability to lift, install, and rack servers and network equipment
  • Some equipment may weigh more than 50 lbs
