Position Summary:
The Associate Network Engineer is an entry-level, hands-on role responsible for supporting IT infrastructure and maintaining the security and performance of our network and systems. You'll assist in troubleshooting Tier 1 issues, perform routine maintenance, participate in system upgrades, and contribute to IT projects across the enterprise including, but not limited to new hire setup, and employee support. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to grow their technical skills in a highly collaborative and security-conscious environment.
The hours for the role will be 7:00am - 3:00pm CST. The candidate must be able to commute regularly to the Schaumburg, IL area.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Systems Support Respond to and manage issues using the Jira ticketing system Install, configure, and upgrade computers, laptops, and thin clients Administer user access, including badge creation and deactivation Perform system health checks and monitor infrastructure security Network & Security
Assist with daily monitoring and vulnerability remediation Support network administration tasks (adds, moves, changes) Implement controls that enhance security and compliance Participate in incident response, risk assessments, and business continuity testing Projects & Documentation
Assist in planning and executing IT projects Document procedures and contribute to knowledge base articles Help define and improve existing IT processes Customer Service
Provide excellent support to internal users Maintain a positive, solution-focused attitude Required Qualifications
Strong desire to learn and grow in systems/network engineering Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and work independently Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail Good written and verbal communication Team-oriented with a proactive mindset Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems Basic knowledge of network fundamentals (e.g., firewalls, IP, DNS, DHCP) Preferred Experience
1-2 years of experience in an IT support, helpdesk, or junior infrastructure role Exposure to Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, and Office 365 Familiarity with virtualization platforms such as VMware Experience with system monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds) Knowledge of backup and recovery concepts (e.g., Avamar, Veeam) Basic scripting or automation knowledge is a plus Education
