About

We are looking for an Authorization Specialist to join our team and help with checking in patients at different centers, obtain authorizations and complete charge entry. The ideal candidate will have experience in medical billing, possess excellent organizational skills, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Successfully works with payers via electronic/telephonic and/or fax communications.
  • Collaborates with designated clinical contacts as appropriate to ensure services are covered.
  • Communicates with patients, clinicians, and others as necessary to facilitate authorization process.
  • Provides timely and accurate information to patients regarding any payments due upon service.
  • Appropriately prioritizes workload to ensure cases are handled in a timely manner. Completes accurate and detailed documentation in both the Auth/Cert and Referral.
  • Determines Medicare primacy based on Federal guidelines.
  • Ensures timely and accurate insurance authorizations are in place prior to services being rendered.
  • Answers provider, staff, and patient questions surrounding insurance authorization requirements.
  • Assist with charge entry in collaboration with other staff members.

Skills

  • Proven working experience as a medical secretary or front desk employee.
  • Knowledge of medical office management systems and procedures
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Social perceptiveness and service oriented
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Epic, Cerner, Citrix, or ECW
  • Ability and willingness to be a strong team player
  • Update and file medical records and insurance reports
  • Produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $ $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 per week
