Test Technician

Summary:

Provide R&D   services to customers, inter-company departments and intra-company   departments. Document and report on the results of R&D services provided.   Operate, maintain and repair in house testing equipment. Must be detail   oriented, system process oriented and have excellent written and verbal   communication skills. Relies heavily on previous testing environment   experience, good engineering and technical judgment, general knowledge of   mechanical machinery/equipment operation and equipment troubleshooting skills.

Daily activities vary   widely in terms of environment, technicality and physicality. Requires   ability to work in ambient temperature extremes, compact/tight spaces, very   loud areas, at height (roofs, ladders etc.), around high voltages and   currents, around very high temperature fluids and components and with heavy   equipment, machinery and tools. The job will also sometimes require sitting   at a desk for 8 hours.

Minimum Qualifications:

years' experience in a controlled   engineering laboratory testing environment

2. Experience   with Welding and Fabrication

3. Excellent   technical report writing and communication skills

4. Proficient   with developing/analyzing spreadsheets, reports and presentations (MS Office   Products)

5. Experience   with engineering data analysis

6. Proficient   in review of engineering drawings, manuals and technical documents

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1. Thorough   working knowledge of engineering processes. 

2. Ability   to lead cross-functional teams. 

3. Good   professional verbal and written communication skills. 

4. Analytical   problem solving and root cause analysis.

Requirements

Essential Functions:

1. Provide expertise for planning of upcoming R&D service requests

2. Review and understand engineering drawings, manuals and technical documents

3. Conducting and documenting R&D services from start to completion

4. Analyzing engineering data for decision making

5. Generating and providing final reporting on the results of R&D services provided

6. Developing procedures, processes and work instructions as necessary

7. Operate, maintain and repair in house test stand equipment

8. Troubleshoot testing equipment issues

9. Perform dissection and analysis on failed and/or returned test specimens

10. Set up and operate data acquisition equipment in the laboratory and field

Adhere to R&D facility safety standards and requirements 

Physical   Demands:

1. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must be   able to apply 200 ft/lbs. of torque.  May also be required to   bend, stoop, pull, push, twist and turn. 

2. Must   use safety equipment such as steel toe shoes, safety glasses and hearing   protection when walking in the plant. Safety glasses and hearing protection are provided.
