HVAC Technical Lead

Salary: Up to £52,000, depending on skills and experience + Overtime

As an HVAC Technical Lead, you will play a pivotal role in our dynamic team. Your responsibilities will include:

• Technical Autonomy: Utilize your expertise to provide guidance and advice to fellow professionals within the project team.
• Prioritization: Use the programme delivery plan to prioritize team activities, ensuring quality expectations are met while maintaining schedule and cost-effectiveness.
• Project Leadership: Act as the focal point for discipline-specific tasks, championing continuous improvement and compliance with the discipline strategy.
• Engineering Expertise: Deploy your skills in engineering toolsets, including CAD and information management tools, to deliver complex design activities from start to finish.
• Decision-Making: Leverage your knowledge to make informed decisions and facilitate problem-solving, guided by policies and business plans.
• Issue Escalation: Effectively escalate complex design issues and advise the Detail Design Delivery Team Lead on proposed technical resolutions.
• Team Development: Identify capability gaps and development needs within the team, contributing to training and development plans.
• Mentorship: Support skills coaching and mentoring, contributing to management reporting as an informal leadership resource.

We’re looking for candidates who possess:

• Experience in large-scale engineering projects or technical roles.
• A breadth and depth of specialist technical knowledge, along with broad experience in processes, data, systems, and the business environment.
• HNC/HND qualification in a technology, engineering, or science-related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• HVAC or Auxiliary Systems experience is preferred, along with considerable experience in an engineering or technical role.
• Preferred experience in shipbuilding.

The BAE Systems Design Services HVAC Team consists of 15 talented engineers dedicated to developing and delivering HVAC design guidance, testing, commissioning, and fault finding for all current naval platforms based in Portsmouth Naval Base.
