We have an exciting opportunity to join an existing team as a Software Engineering Team Lead, providing technical and personnel leadership to deliver cutting-edge software solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong software background, with experience of leading technical strategy to accelerate deliveries, migrating to Cloud, DevSecOps, SRE, and cutting-edge software architecture and methodologies, coupled with leadership skills to support a team of engineers, working on-site for at least part of every week. This is a great opportunity to develop your leadership skills by assuming some line management responsibilities without sacrificing the technical aspect of your role. Key responsibilities of an Engineering Team Lead include:
Being responsible for providing day to day employee management, performance assessment, work assignments, approvals and recognition/disciplinary actions.
Leading a technical team and working with stakeholders to deliver secure, high-quality software.
Managing your time and the team’s time effectively to develop solutions to cost and quality targets.
Promoting and driving innovation and technical excellence across our software engineering teams.
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with clients and suppliers across all levels of the organisation both internally and with the customer.
Collaborating internally to drive personnel focused process improvements.
Collaborating with customer teams to standardise approaches and bring best practices to bear across the organisation.
Participating in technical and business meetings, ensuring engineering elements are completed on schedule following established procedures, schedules, and work plans.
Any additional Programme related tasks assigned that are within area of expertise, competence and skill set.

Requirements Required skills, qualifications and experience
Skilled at active listening, experience of technical mentoring.
Ability to direct staff to achieve technical objectives and solutions.
The ability to manage tasks and priorities to ensure that assigned workload is delivered when required.
Positive attitude, and willingness to get involved with tasks across the Engineering lifecycle.
Ability to communicate with a wide range of audiences on complex topics.
Proficient in a current software development language such as Java, C/C++, Python, TypeScript, ReactJS
Knowledge of DevSecOps approaches to automation and security, Microservice architectures, Infrastructure as Code tools, cloud technologies
Desired skills, qualifications and experience
Experience of leading and day to day managing of people.
Ability to analyse technical problems and provide pragmatic solutions.
Proven ability to produce cost effective and technically compliant solutions.
Experience as an Engineering Lead or similar position.
Experience with Agile, or Kanban methodologies.
Experience of working in a highly regulated industry.
Degree in Engineering or other STEM subjects.
