Position Summary: The Substitute School Bus Driver is an essential part of the MOISD team, providing safe and reliable transportation to ensure that every child receives a quality public education.

Professional Requirements / Education and Experience

• Preference is given to a candidate who has experience and or training with special needs children.
• Minimum of high school diploma.
• Must possess, or be able to obtain, all certificates, licenses, endorsements, and permits as required for a school bus driver by state and local authorities: Valid Michigan driver's license, Commercial Driver License (CDL), Air Brake Endorsement, (P) Passenger Endorsement & (S) School Bus Endorsement
• Must be at least 18 years of age with a clean driving record.
• Familiarity with vehicle maintenance best practices.
• Knowledge of safety standards, laws, codes, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to pupiltransportation.
• Must consent to and pass pre-employment and random drug/alcohol testing and DOT physical.
• Must pass a criminal history background investigation conducted by the Michigan State Police (MSP) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Essential Duties

• Ability to work in harmony with fellow employees and the public at large.
• Effectively make decisions quickly and displaying good judgment.
• Excellent navigational ability, including reading and interpreting GPS and physical road and street maps.
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and in good physical condition.
• Contribute positively to the overall quality and operation of the transportation department.
• Complete pre-trip inspections and maintain bus safety and hygiene standards.
• Additional duties as assigned by the Transportation Director.

Compensation: $ hourly
