Math Tutor

Job Description

Are you passionate about helping students succeed in math? We are seeking a dedicated and patient Math Tutor to provide personalized, one-on-one instruction for an 8th-grade student. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a solid understanding of middle school math concepts, and a genuine desire to support student growth and confidence.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and effective **one-on-one math lessons** tailored to an 8th-grade student's needs.

• Assess the student's strengths, weaknesses, and learning style to customize lesson plans.

• Assist with homework assignments, test preparation, and understanding classroom material.

• Monitor and track the student's progress, providing regular feedback to both the student and their parent/guardian.

• Foster a positive, encouraging learning environment that builds the student's confidence in math.

Requirements

• Proven experience tutoring or teaching math at the middle school level (8th grade preferred).

• Strong knowledge of 8th-grade math topics, including pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Patience, empathy, and a passion for education.

• Ability to commit to a regular tutoring schedule (frequency and timing to be discussed).

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (or current enrollment) in Mathematics, Education, or a related field.

• Previous experience with one-on-one tutoring.

• Familiarity with current 8th-grade math curriculum and standards.

Schedule: 10 hours weekly

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 per week
