About
Our Washington, D.C. facility is looking for a skilled and safety-conscious Forklift Operator to join our busy distribution center. The Forklift Operator is essential for moving materials efficiently and safely within the warehouse. You will operate various types of forklifts to transport raw materials, finished goods, and other items to and from designated areas, including shipping docks, storage areas, and production lines. Maintaining a clean and safe work environment, performing routine equipment checks, and adhering to all operational procedures are key aspects of this role. This position plays a vital role in the overall logistics and supply chain process, ensuring timely and accurate handling of inventory.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts (e.g., sit-down, stand-up, reach truck) safely and efficiently to move, stack, load, and unload materials.
- Perform pre-operational checks on forklifts and report any maintenance issues immediately.
- Load and unload trucks and trailers, ensuring goods are secured properly.
- Transport materials to and from storage areas, production lines, and shipping docks.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory movements and locations within the WMS.
- Adhere to all warehouse safety rules and regulations, including proper use of PPE.
- Assist with other warehouse duties as needed, such as order picking or stocking.
- Practice good housekeeping to keep the work area clean and organized.
- Capability for Lifting heavy items may be required on occasion.
Qualifications:
- Valid forklift operator certification or license.
- Proven experience operating forklifts in a warehouse environment.
- Excellent understanding of warehouse operations and logistics.
- Strong commitment to Safety and accident prevention.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet performance targets.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Must wear provided PPE at all times in designated areas.
