•E- We empower employees to growUnder general supervision, the Aquatic Supervisor oversees daily aquatic operations and programs, leads part-time and contract staff, and ensures safe, high-quality services for the community. Responsibilities include planning and implementing aquatics programs, managing expenditures, preparing reports and materials, and supporting the goals of the Aquatics Division.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Direct, train, schedule, and evaluate assigned personnel and volunteers.Provide clear expectations, recognize strong performance, and support employee development.Review work for quality and ensure adherence to city policies and procedures.Make recommendations or decisions related to hiring, discipline, and other personnel actions.Coordinate daily staffing needs and maintain effective team operations.Plan, implement, and supervise aquatics programming, including learn-to-swim classes, aquatic events, and related activitiesMonitor program quality and ensure standards, safety guidelines, and best practices are consistently met.Evaluate program effectiveness and recommend improvements based on trends and community needs.Assist with establishing key performance indicators and departmental scorecard targets.Ensure the safety, health, and welfare of all participants, staff, and facility users.Conduct routine inspections of aquatic equipment, systems, and pool areas.Assist with maintaining pool systems, testing water quality, managing chemicals, and documenting results.Enforce all safety policies, emergency procedures, and operational standards.Serve as Manager on Duty during early morning, evening, and weekend shifts.Oversee facility opening and closing procedures, supervise staff, and ensure proper cash handling, including approving refunds and voidsResolve customer concerns and ensure high-quality guest service throughout the facility.Prepare reports, articles, and content for newsletters, promotional materials, and internal/external communications.Support departmental administrative functions as assigned.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Obtain CPRP certification within 2 years. Continually develop as a professional, attend workshops, and network with other professionals annually. Knowledge of City policies and procedures.Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.Skill in the operation and use of standard office software, which includes databases and presentation programs, along with standard Microsoft products; andAbility to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with co-workers, the public, and elected and appointed officials.Highly organized and can prioritize projects and handle several projects at the same time.Exhibit good problem-solving skills and good judgment in keeping with the mission of the Recreation Department.
