We prioritize innovation, quality, and continuous improvement—and we are looking for a detail-oriented Mechanical CAD Engineer to join our engineering team.
Position Summary
The Mechanical CAD Engineer will be responsible for creating and maintaining detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings for complex electromechanical instruments and laboratory automation systems. This position works closely with mechanical engineers, manufacturing, and procurement to ensure accurate product documentation and successful transition from design to production.
Responsibilities
- Create and update detailed 2D and 3D mechanical drawings, assemblies, and component models in SolidWorks.
- Prepare production-ready drawings including BOMs (Bill of Materials), GD&T annotations, tolerances, and machining details.
- Support prototype builds by providing clear drawing packages and revision control.
- Collaborate with Mechanical Engineering and R&D teams to incorporate design changes and improvements.
- Manage and maintain CAD file structures, revision history, PDM vaults, and standard drawing templates.
- Perform basic design tasks such as sheet metal design, machined part modeling, and integration of purchased components.
- Work with vendors and procurement to specify manufacturable designs and ensure accurate documentation.
- Assist in the creation of exploded assembly diagrams and visual instructions for manufacturing and assembly.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree or technical certificate in CAD drafting, mechanical design, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years of experience in SolidWorks drafting (scientific/industrial/mechanical equipment experience preferred).
Strong working knowledge of:
- SolidWorks (part/assembly modeling, configurations, drawings)
- GD&T and mechanical tolerances
- Sheet metal, machined parts, and electromechanical assemblies
- Experience reading engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks PDM or other document control systems is a plus.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in manufacturing environments, instrumentation, automation, or laboratory equipment.
- Basic understanding of pneumatics, fluid systems, or electronics packaging.
- ERP/MRP data entry for BOM creation (NetSuite, SAP, etc.)
