Summary
This position has direct responsibility for understanding and adhering to all food safety regulations. The
Sanitation Porter ensures that all waste generated in the production areas, including corrugated, pails, and
any other trash, is promptly removed. The role also involves keeping all trash cans empty, clean, and orderly.
Additionally, this position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the outside
grounds of the building. This role requires adherence to all safety and sanitation regulations, with flexibility
to work additional hours or on Saturdays as needed. Workers must be prepared to perform duties in varying
weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure all trash cans in the production lines are emptied, cleaned, and organized regularly.
- Remove all types of waste, including corrugated and pails, from production areas.
- Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the outside grounds, including walkways, parking lots, and
loading docks.
- Be prepared to work in varying environmental conditions such as cold, heat, and wet weather.
- Follow all safety protocols and use proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), color coding systems, and chemical handling policies.
- Address and resolve corrective actions related to sanitation and food safety.
- Report any issues or concerns to the supervisor in a timely manner.
Qualifications / Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma preferred.
- Previous experience in janitorial, custodial, or sanitation work is required.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to perform repetitive tasks efficiently.
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods, tools, and solutions.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends, as needed.
- Understanding of written and oral instructions.
Physical Demands
- Flexible to schedule changes when necessary to accommodate vacations, sick days, and unforeseen
changes in personnel.
- Worker subject to working indoors protected from weather conditions.
- Must be able to work in an environment containing flour dust and allergens.
- Must be able to work with a variety of chemicals and follow specific instructions.
- Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds and 20 pounds constantly.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist and perform other physical tasks as required.
