Role Summary
The Engineering Manager will lead the technical solutioning and delivery of SunStripe's Solar and utility-scale BESS engineering services. The role works closely with the founders and engineering teams in the U.S. and India to define solutions, review designs, and ensure high-quality delivery for Solar and BESS projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical solutioning and design for Solar and utility-scale BESS projects.
- Manage and guide a team of engineers delivering studies, designs, and reports for Solar and BESS projects in the U.S. market.
- Review and, where applicable, stamp key engineering documents as a PE, ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and utility requirements.
- Act as the main technical contact for client engineering teams.
- Coordinate with SunStripe's India-based engineering hub to allocate work, resolve technical issues, and keep delivery on schedule.
- Support the founders in technical discussions and design reviews with developers, IPPs, utilities, and EPCs.
- Stay current on Solar and BESS technologies, interconnection rules, and applicable standards.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Power, or Energy Engineering (required).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license - US
- MBA or similar business education is a plus, not mandatory.
Experience
- 10–15 years working on utility-scale battery energy storage or grid-connected renewable projects in engineering or engineering management roles.
- Strong experience leading or reviewing technical work on large BESS or renewable-energy projects (studies, designs, interconnection, or project engineering).
- Deep understanding of battery storage technologies, how projects connect to the grid, and how engineering interfaces with construction and contractors.
Performance Expectations
- Lead safe, high-quality delivery of SunStripe's engineering work for utility-scale BESS projects in the U.S.
- Ensure engineering studies, designs, and reports are delivered on time and meet agreed technical standards.
- Work with the founders to strengthen SunStripe's technical presence across Texas and other key U.S. BESS markets.
