Applications Engineer
Are you passionate about technology and enjoy working directly with customers? As an Applications Engineer, you'll play a key role in supporting our Sales and Applications teams by showcasing our advanced standalone and specialized machines. You'll lead product demonstrations, conduct time studies, and provide expert post-sales support to ensure our customers achieve success with our solutions. The Applications Engineer will perform essential functions for the Sales, Applications areas in the form of product demonstrations, time studies, and post sales customer applications support. Besides the functional responsibility of applications for customer demos, the applications engineer will also work with customers after installation with startup and production support. Applications Engineer Responsibilities
Perform standard and custom demos on punch and combination machines with a high degree of customer satisfaction. Use TRUMPF proprietary and other software to create time studies and sample parts to customer requirements. Provide customer technical support via phone and email. Continuously increase knowledge by participating in training and testing functions of the machines and automation. Develop new demo parts and redesign parts for customers as required. Exhibit a complete understanding of the benefits of specific machine features and an ability to discuss the unique value of each. Determine the proper selection of standard and special punch tools and develop laser tech tables for specialty applications. Host Sales Rep training seminars as required. Provide feedback on product development / improvement ideas for existing or new products. Ensure assigned machines are clean, fully functional and ready for demonstrations every day. Travel estimate is 25% as average, with focus in USA, Mexico and Canada Experience/Education
Experience in the sheet metal industry desired, preferably on TRUMPF products. Experience with CAD and programming desired. Excellent communication and networking skills a must, as well as the ability to work independently. Basic understanding of project management and ability to train colleagues a plus. Ability to regularly lift 40 lbs. and willing to operate forklifts. Minimum 2-year technical school degree, 4 year degree preferred or suitable equivalent of education and work experience.
