Search Engine Optimization Specialist

Tampa Custom Copy is seeking an experienced Freelance SEO Specialist to support backend website optimization for our growing roster of clients. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented SEO professional who understands both technical optimization and strategic visibility and enjoys collaborating with a creative, copy-first agency.

As a subcontractor, you'll work alongside our team to improve search performance through keyword optimization, backend site enhancements, and backlink strategy without client-facing pressure.

Responsibilities

Conduct keyword research and competitive analysis

Optimize on-page and backend SEO elements (metadata, headers, internal linking, site structure)

Support website refreshes and backend "redo" projects

Implement and advise on backlinking strategies

Ensure SEO best practices are applied across client websites

Collaborate with copy and design teams to align SEO with brand voice

Track performance and provide clear, actionable insights

Requirements

Minimum 3 years of professional SEO experience

Strong understanding of on-page, technical, and off-page SEO

Proven experience with keyword optimization and backlinking

Familiarity with CMS platforms (WordPress, Squarespace, etc.)

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Portfolio or case studies demonstrating results

Comfortable working as a freelance subcontractor
